The week's wildest story is, unfortunately, not an official Pokémon reveal: IGN reports the official Pokémon profile on X was hacked by an unknown party around 3 PM PT on August 17, with the compromised account sharing a post linking out to a memecoin. Kotaku flags the awkward timing — the hack landed just ahead of the World Championships — and The Pokémon Company has since issued a statement making clear those posts weren't theirs.

Happily, the real Worlds news is much better: VGC reports one of San Francisco's busiest streets is now "Rayquaza Road" as Pokémon Worlds 2026 and PokémonXP begin.
